Chiropractic focuses on the
diagnosis and management of disorders arising from the neuromusculoskeletal
system.
Chiropractors use a combination of
manual treatments, all of which are predicated on the specific needs of the
individual patient. After taking a complete history and diagnosing a patient, a
chiropractor can develop and carry out a comprehensive treatment plan.
Chiropractic treatments at DCC
can involve joint manipulation, soft tissue treatments (Active Release
Techniques (ART®) and Graston Technique), medical acupuncture, rehabilitation
exercise, Kinesiotaping®, therapeutic modalities, bracing and orthotics.
Chiropractors specialize in
treating all regions of the body including injuries of the spine, hips, shoulders, knees, elbows, wrists, hands and feet,
for both injury management
as well as performance enhancement.
Active
Release Techniques (ART ®)
ART® is state of the art soft
tissue system that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and
nerves. ART® was designed to target and remove soft tissue adhesions that lead
to pain and dysfunction.
Adhesions can be the result of
acute injury (sprains, strains, bruises) or more commonly chronic repetitive
motions seen in the workplace or as a result of intense training and
competition.
An example of some of the
conditions that can be treated successfully with ART:
- Headaches
- Shoulder Pain
- Low Back Pain
- Nerve Entrapments
- Lateral Epicondylosis (Tennis Elbow)
- Medial Epicondylosis (Golfers Elbow)
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Patellar Tendinosis (Jumpers Knee)
- Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITB Syndrome)
- Plantar Fasciitis
