Obstacle Course

The heart of a competitor

You know how it feels to push your body to the edge – your heart is pounding, your muscles are burning, and your breath leaves your lungs in quick, heavy bursts. Yet somehow, none of this matters. All you see is the finish line; all you care about is crossing that final hurdle on your way to winning the grand prize. You know what it means to test the limits and take yourself beyond the goals you’ve set. You taste victory before you have it and instinctively seek the pleasure of winning. Whether on stage or on the course, you know you must push the blood, sweat and tears of training aside – to the back of your mind – and reach deeper than ever before. You are an athlete and, for you, pushing the boundaries is simply part of the game. You define your dreams and your body gets you there, no questions asked.

The description you have just encountered is what it feels like to compete in and conquer the most grueling challenge you have yet to set your eyes on.

Love the stage, but want to find out just how truly athletic you really are? The “Extreme Fame Fitness Challenge” is for you. This event is designed for bodybuilding, fitness, figure and fitness model search competitors who don’t just want to look good, but want to put that muscle to the test in the gruelling Cat’s Lair Obstacle Course Challenge.

After the stage shows, and the obstacle challenge you must endure 4 individual ‘strong man’ event, including;

Extreme Leg Press (total # of lifts)

Total # of lifts – arms must be locked out, a slight bend to the knees is allowed at the beginning of each movement. Reps must be continuous (one after the other) no rest in between.

Extreme Lateral Hold (timed event)

Contestants must hold their arms completely outreached to the sides with chains. Arms must remain straight.

Extreme Hercules Carry with bands/weights (timed/distance event)

This is a DCC specific event. A resistance band attached to a weight which in turn will be attached to a log or wooden pole will be placed onto the competitors shoulders. Event will be timed over a distance of 70ft (both directions) 25lbs for women, 45lbs for men. Two full turns must be made for the course to be complete.

Extreme Fireman’s Carry (timed/distance event)

A 6X6 log is hoisted and carried 70ft(the length of the course) and back. There must be a full turn and the contestant must walk back down the full length of the course. Note – there must be two full turns made to complete the course.

Components of “The Cat’s Lair”

The Cat’s Lair™ is the most unique, specialized course of its kind which incorporates elements of the World’s Strongest Man competitions, obstacle courses, playground equipment and American Gladiator like activities.

Tire Pit

Firepersons Carry - Ease into things – I think not! This course begins with a jolt! Begin by walking a heavy load the distance – 60ft (with trap bar and tire for the men), 60ft (with “loaded” water bottles for women)

Tire Flips – You thought you were tough! – test you grit and determination – “Flip” your brains out here – this will determine just how quickly you can move on. Distance: 60ft, 7 flips (men), 30ft, 4flips (women)

Firestone Agility Run – Just like running on coals – you must be fleet footed and smooth not to get caught up in one the tires. Speed, agility and co-ordination will take you through this part of the course quickly.

Tire Squats – Physically demanding! Make sure to use your legs for this. 6 squats for women and 10 for men.

Spider Web

Fly Trap – Agility Run (over) Jump, hop, maneuver your way the best you can through the wicked web – careful not to get your feet caught – could be an awful mess to untangle and precious time will be lost!

Centipede – Crawl Under (under) Made it through the web – now it’s time to get down and dirty crawling back through the way you came. (may be in the sand)

Fly Trap – (repeat)

Cargo Climb ‘N’ Slide – Make it to the second portion of this test and you’ll be laughing! First you must climb your way via cargo nets up and over a blown up wall or obstacle – once on top you can let it all go and free fall to the next portion of the race. It look’s like an easy one! Careful, though – watch out for those nasty speed burns on the way down.

Rope Run -full length – sprint with a weighted rope all the way down the course to a seated rope pull.

Sled Pull - 15 feet, in a hand over hand movement bring that sled to you as quickly as possible until you are able to touch the sled itself!

The Gauntlet

Ladder Carry (full length of course) – Think you’ve reached the end – NOT EVEN CLOSE! This is where determination and willpower will push you to the end! The beginning of the Gauntlet has you carrying a (custom made) ladder the length of the course

Wall Jump – hurdle a 4 foot wall to continue the course…(Stability balls ‘may” be tossed so be sure to keep your head up here)

Balance Beam- sprint across as quickly as your feet can carry you – be sure to continue to keep your head up as “dodging” may have to continue (wink, wink)

Wall jump – one more hurdle stands in your way – quickly over this and onward…

Weighted Sled Run – Nearly done! I t doesn’t get any easier! You must hook onto the sled and sprint back down the length of the course – wait it gets worse (haha), there will be a maze of people waiting with “crash” pads to make your steps to the final portion are the most grueling and challenging of the course! You must bounce through as these people try to knock you off stride and prevent you from your goal…

Wall Climb/Monkey Bars- hurdle a wall or two (each different in height), onto a set of monkey bars, traversing from one rung to the next. Be prepared though – you may be hit with a flying object (ball) – dodge ball style! And lastly

Heavy Bag drag- take hold of our heavy bag and drag it to the end of the course where you FINALLY finish…in complete exhaustion or ready for more?

BRAVO – this is just the beginning….WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!!

The obstacles and the general course design may change without prior notice. The promoters of The Cat’s Lair™ make no promises or offer any assurances that the obstacles will be presented as stated.

You’ve tried the rest now compete to be the best. The best all around athlete that is! Don’t just look good.
